Poka- Yoke

Poka-Yoke: is the concept considered to be pioneered by the Japanese of engineering systems to prevent or minimize human failure.

What's at Stake?

Just finished Patrick Lencioni's book Death By Meeting - a fast read (theoretically) which dissects just why ‘the meeting’ is so unproductive, boring and generally viewed as the ‘necessary evil’ in an organization. The central thesis is that meetings lack: drama and contextual structure.

The Back End of Your Vision...

I finished a fund raising appeal late Thursday night. Woke up Friday AM and tossed the whole thing in the trash.

Why? Because it was all about the organization. The donor was merely offered the chance to give to their story at the end. Push the go-kart rather than steer it together. It was as if the donor was just a means to this end, an after thought. Terrible stuff.

It's not about what's right.

It's not about whether you are right or wrong, it's about whether or not it is working. The morality behind our mission, right we are trying to wrong, or our unshakeable belief in our product or mission cause us to do what is right but often leads us to ignore what works all the time.

The Data Deluge & The Cute Factor

Glitter Graphics"Everything's real-time"  says Vivek Ranadive in a raspy voice with a thick, singsong accent, emphasizing certain vowels unexpectedly, so he sounds a little like an Indian Christopher Walken.

Gas in the Tank.

Saltine Crackers

I've been thinking a lot about inducing thirst lately. How we go about try to convince people they are "thirsty" for the product you're selling - anything from a moral system or ethics right through to donation systems. It [almost] never works but we still keep trying. The 'non profit' service industry (ie.
